These 11 Basic Guidelines for General Health and Longevity by Dr. Mercola are easy to follow and will improve health tremendously. They are naturally part of my paleo – gluten free lifestyle.
Even if you do not follow any of them, but want to implement some of them, do it slowly. A healthy eating habit without GMO’s and processed food is not difficult to follow.
Fresh and raw food is no problem for me, because I love raw vegetables and fruits, but it might be a little more difficult for someone who is not used to eating vegetables raw. I would start slow and then add more and more vegetables. The body will tell us which foods are agreeable to be eaten raw.
Plenty of sleep – well everybody should get plenty of sleep. It really makes you feel much better if you sleep 7-8 hours a night.
Managing stress will take some work, but it can be done. Sometimes a candle lit bubble bath does wonders 🙂
I do not like sodas and I stopped drinking juices, because each of them have tons of sugar. And if it says “diet” it is even worse – artificial sweeteners are ruining your health. So it is best to avoid them altogether.
Healthy fats are a part of the paleo – gluten free lifestyle. I mainly cook with coconut oil and use olive oil and grapeseed oil for salads. We like to eat avocados and eggs as well as nuts are also part of our daily menu.
I am not eating a lot of fermented foods, but I love Kimchi. If I get my hands on a jar that does not have any artificial colors and preservatives, I will get it. A friend of ours in Maryland was Korean and his mother used to make Kimchi for us. It was the most delicious Kimchi I ever ate.
Sunlight is a given, especially here in Florida. We get plenty of that 🙂
As for exercise, Aquafit will take care of that.
