Hello to all,
This is a very good question. Do I have to buy new pots, pans, cutlery, etc.?
One word: NO
You can use all your favorite cooking utensils and your favorite pan from way back when :). There is no need to buy anything at all.
I still remember when the low fat wave hit, everybody I knew went out to buy the Foreman Grill – me included.
It worked nicely. Did I use it? Yes, sometimes. Was it worth it? Honestly said: no, not really. I could have done the same grilling my food in the oven. But many of my friends loved it and are still using it.
All that said, I have added a few things I really like to my kitchen.
First, a cast iron pan. I do all my paleo cooking in my cast iron pan: chicken, steak, vegetables, frittata (recipe soon :)). I love that I can go from the stove top directly into the oven. And the pan is sooo easy to clean.
Second, my favorite: a Vegetable/Fruit Spiralizer. This was the best invention to make pasta from vegetables. I had it for about 1.5 years and use it every week. Read my review here. It is really worth to have it for a paleo and/or gluten free life style.
Third, the NutriBullet. If you love to incorporate vegetable juices in your paleo life style that is the one
to get. I use it for juices, smoothies, grinding nuts, chopping onion, cheese…….. It is extremely versatile.
So, to answer the question “Do I need special cooking tools living a paleo and/or gluten free live style?” I would say: no. But it is nice to have some things like the spiralizer to make our lives easier.
As always, please feel free to comment and ask questions.
Karin
Great choices, the spiralizer is a big part of my cooking these days.
Mine too, just making zucchini pasta right now 🙂
